Article 45. RAD type animal protection entities

RAD Type entities are those that are dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of those animals that, even though they are production animals, are not used for a commercial or profit-oriented purpose. These entities must comply with the following obligations:

a) Submit to the competent Administration an annual report that includes a financial summary of its activity and a record of the animals under guardianship.

b) Possess the corresponding authorisation or license to constitute a zoological nucleus legally established as a permanent animal shelter.

c) Ensure the well-being and hygienic-sanitary conditions of the animals housed, adaptation of spaces, security measures, staff training, animal registration and veterinary care.

d) Be the holder of a valid civil liability insurance that covers their activities.

e) At least one member of the board of directors or governing body of the entity must be in possession of the degree determined by regulation.

f) Permanently identify the animals.

g) Take the necessary measures to prevent the animals that live in them from reproducing, taking into account the characteristics of each species.

h) Provide the animals with a stable space in which to live with other animals until the moment of their death, unless they are transferred to another RAD-type entity.

i) Communicate in the first fifteen calendar days to the competent administration the situation of each animal collected.
